Poem

Here's my name and address,

Write to me quickly, write tomorrow,

Let's go for a walk,

With a touch of intoxication.

If you must be my mistress,

Don't look so inhuman,

And don't push my hand

On your laces in distress.

Since we love each other for eight days,

Why take so many detours

And disguise what we mean?

Come into my arms, be charming,

I desire you and desire you,

And desire you infinitely.

Henry Becque (1887)
